Brief 3 - Colour?!

The main feedback that we received from the meeting with the course was about the colour green that we have used - it doesn't stand out enough against the grey text. They want to have a green that is 'more green'. So immediately after the meeting, we borrowed the pantone books from the office to try and find the green that is the 'most green' that we could achieve from CMYK.

With us not being entirely sure about whether the stock we will get to use will be coated or uncoated, it made finding the right green a bit more difficult. Obviously, with a coated stock the green would appear a lot more vibrant than on an uncoated stock.

From these though, we picked two greens that we think gives them what that are wanting with it needing to be 'more green'.

We also received an email from Steve not long after the meeting with a link to a website with a really vibrant electric blue on that he really likes and mentioned to us to use in the first meeting. Whilst we respect this, the girls from the course wanted green to be used so we aren't really sure what to do. The blue that Steve likes wouldn't be able to be reproduced within CMYK, so we had a quick look for a nice blue to also put forward to them to pick from. It will be explained in the email to Alison about Steve liking the blue, etc. So here's the three colours that we are forwarding over to Alison over email to make a decision from. We will also explain in the email about how they look slightly different on screen than printed too.

This got emailed straight away before sending the other bits of immediate changed and experiments to get Alisons opinion from it.

In the mean time while we were waiting for her to get back to us about it, I did some experiments using the different colours.

Another of the main bits of feedback that we received is that the front doesn't really stand out enough, so it was suggested to maybe try having it reversed out and having a solid green background on it and have the course name and college name stand out more on it. I also experimented with this too while experimenting with the colours.

In the mean time while I was doing this, Alison got back to us explaining how she actually liked the green that we originally took to the meeting, and then went on to choose one of the greens that we suggested. She completely just discarded the idea of using blue, so sticking to green it is. We printed out a solid of the newly selected green and took a photo of it next to the old green to show the difference between them - the new one definitely better.
