Brief 3 - Contents Page 2

After spending a small amount of time discussing between myself and Baljeet about the whole of this project in general and how things have progressed and what not, it came up about the fact that when me, Baljeet and Beth had the initial sort of discussion about the idea for this brief that we mentioned including small slight details similar to like in the example that Alison gave us with the lines and measurements and what not. This then lead to Baljeet suggesting that we do this for the title pages for each different section throughout the yearbook, and then have the contents page match the key notes section on the example with the letters in the circles.

We both really like this idea, so got straight to working on the contents page to make sure that it would work. We started by adding the letters and circles to the contents list.

We first figured out what a good spacing would be for the circles so that we can then alter the spacing of the contents list accordingly. 

This took longer than anticipated to alter with each of the individual elements to it. Having them set like this though has made the whole list look pretty squeezed into the layout. Hmm. We then started thinking more about how we can actually have the titles part. We need to get this spot on in terms of getting things aligned and spaced and everything to the pixel otherwise it will just look shit.

Below shows the development that we made on this, there is quite a lot to it. We experimented with the scaling of things to each other, as well as colour ways for each element and what not. It took quite a while to get right (longer than expected), but definitely worth the time and effort.

This is turning out to work quite nice. With all of the lines and what not around the section titles it starts to form sort of like a building shape. Here is how the section looks.

It works really well, and ties in with the concept that we have for the whole brief really nicely. Just hope that they don't turn around and completely hate it but can't really see it. Here is how the finished layout is now looking for the contents page (for now at least).
