Brief 3 - Initial Meeting

Here are the notes that I wrote down from the initial Interior Design meeting that we had with both Fred and Steve going over everything.

Working with 2 or 3 third year Interior Design students.

Try stay away from binding - simple as possible

  • staple bound
  • fold down duplex

PDF as well.

Lots of option 2 so can be used more like a flyer.

Print doesn't need to be the same as the PDF.

PDF can go on a CD to give out.

Focus on PDF and then use extractions from this then to make print.

Saving money.

More time to have for them to get images to us for PDF.

Print uses work available now.

We need copy and text to start working with it now.

Last years copy and text.

19 students on the course.

Focus on text and concept to work on and nail down.

Deadline for images will be at a later date.

Deadlines agreed are stuck to - if it is missed then they wont be in.

Deadlines need to be manageable.

PDF focused - print is sexy bit.

Come up with options then can choose from them.

Text to be in by end of the week.

Text should be accurate when we get it then we make sure we use it properly.

Should be all confirmed and accurate by easter.

Images to us by 15th April.

Print job more text heavy to allow us time to get it done and sent off.

Logo centered on the back of the print.

College name, course, year must be included on it.

Font should be helvetica - body copy
Header - up to us

Colour must work on screen and print.

Stock not up to us really.

210x210
210x420 screen stuff

Square format on spread

Print must fit 210 x 210 as well.

Contact details must be included.

Content is programme specific.

Each student has to be represented equally and fairly.

Don't use portraits this year of them.

Define what format should be saved for the files
  • talk to Antony in the bubble, he will know
Photography needs to be professional.

Every image must be labelled - no floating images.

Need a week before it goes to print to be signed off.

Around 29th April for print deadline to be signed off by course leader.

Actual print deadline is to be confirmed.

All content, images, etc must be signed off and completed and confirmed by the 29th by the programme.
  • actual finished thing might not be finished off but last things to be finished off then
Treat as 2 separate elements.

26th April deadline to work towards.

Main purpose is to promote the students not the course.

Have a colour theme - strong colour.

Images didn't do the work justice last year.

Prefer not to have photographs of the students in it.

Still have staff profiles.

Intro at beginning.

Course overview.

Sustainability.

Gill Sans/Helvetica - something simple.

Interior architecture.

Commercial interiors
  • pubs/bars/restaurants
  • hoteks
  • exhibitions
  • etc
Put together a questionaire to get to know more about the students and what they want to do, etc.

How get them to look good?

1 image per person?

Emailing us websites

Ice blue colour

Info given will need to be tweaked.
